Moxie – Created by Dr. Augustin Thompson in 1876. He claimed that it contained an extract from a rare, unnamed South American plant that was effective against paralysis.

He named it Moxie after a friend called Lieutenant Moxie who claimed he had discovered the plant and used it as a panacea. A few years later he added soda water to the formula and changed the product's name to "Beverage Moxie Nerve Food". By 1884 he was selling Moxie in both bottles and in bulk as a soda fountain syrup.

Moxie was among the first mass-produced soft drinks in the United States. This glass in overall nice condition, no chips or flea bites. Note: Part of the letter e in Moxie has faded ( please see photo ). Thanks for looking.

This vintage syrup line glass is shown in the 1996 Petretti's Soda Pop Collectors Guide on page 207.
